We have now new mooring lines and anchors in Blue Moons new home in Methane.
We have this spot all year around for as many days as we want. There is a high content of sulphurin the water (due to springs from old volcanic activity).
This should mean that the boat will keep cleaner and the boat won’t need to be pulled up on the hard land every year for painting. Less work. More fun.
We are on a peninsula Methane, two ferry rides from Athens.
As the harbour is only for ‘long term boats’, other overnight guests are not welcome. Often they have come in, thrown down their anchors and ruined other people’s moorings.
Blue moons spot is on the very right of the photo.
We are number 5 slot from the boat on the farthest right.
2*25 kilo danforth anchors
2* 12,5 meters chain (12mm)
2* 25 meters rope
2* 20 meters rope to ‘catch’ the mooring line with.
Dimitri and the harbourmaster Marina worked it all through and Svend tried to help.
In order to keep the port mooring closer to the bottom, we put on a ‘sinking rock’ to pull the line down. Otherwise, the smaller boats on our port side could catch our mooring and risk ruining their propeller and our mooring.
