Fint sted men dønninger hele natten.

July 23
Sailed down to Russian Bay and stayed one night. It's a busy harbour with many super yachts. We stern tied and spent the day swimming and snoozing and watching the goats on shore. There's remains of a Russian garrison at the head of the bay and right beside it is a beach club with a sign "Keep calm and have a drink." Their blaring techno beat music from 7- 10 PM made it hard to keep calm. Al went on a rescue mission to help our Russian neighbors reset their anchor. Must have done a good job because it was a windy night and everyone was still in the same place this morning.

Sunday July 21
Had an early morning walk to an ancient theatre, about 15 minutes. Passed a huge orange grove, pomegranate trees, olive trees, a little hobby farm, and beautiful, fragrant, pink flowering bushes. The cicadas were chittering away. We headed off for a sail over to Vathi. Quaint little harbour with Greeks dancing the afternoon away in the Taverna. We were able to go swimming at the head of the harbour. We hear there's a beach close by but haven't been that ambitious yet. Talked to a couple from the Netherlands who have been stuck here a week, since he got bit by a dog! He's visiting the local hospital everyday for antibiotics and wound cleaning. We'll watch out for stray dogs. Looking forward to dinner in the local taverna. Svend got the chance to help his 'brothers' from Sweden to dock their boat.
Friday and Saturday July 19 and 20
Headed to Epidavros. Decided to anchor in the bay so we could jump off the boat when we felt like it. Water was 25 degrees. So much nicer than back home. Weather is great so we had lots of swims. Explored town and bought some clothes at Nadia's. She signs her bags so when she becomes famous you can say you bought something there.
We took a cab to the large amphitheater that was created in 400 BC. Very impressive. It holds 15,000 people. Acoustics are so good at the top that you can hear someone talking at the bottom. We tested that and its true.
Tied to the wharf on Saturday. A whole row of stalls are right behind the boat. They open at 7 pm and stay open till midnight. We bought nuts, liquor, wine and fried dough with feta in the middle.
Walked around to a nice little beach and had another swim. It even had a fresh water shower.
Cathy made a nice meal on the boat.
A fruit truck came by which is very convenient.

Got away from the crowds and anchored off Korfos for a night. Jumped off the boat numerous times for a refreshing swim. Still enough excitement in the harbour for Al and Svend to "help" dock boats. They can spend hours in the cockpit giving their expert advice. "He should pull back on his anchor more. "" He needs to head into the wind. ""He's too close to they guy." We call it watching Greek TV. Went to a little Taverna at the edge of town where all the patrons but us seemed to be local, with their kids having fun on the beach just beside the tables. Really nice, warm family running it with some English. The Papa was teaching Al to speak Greek. Kalimere for good morning and Efharisto for thank you.
Wednesday July17
Plan was to go to Korfos but the wind was up. Captain made the decision to stay one more day. Good thing because it was very lumpy out there. Nobody left that day.
Did some shopping and got another swim at the beach. Cathy made a great dinner that we had on board while watching the world go by on the wharf.

Tuesday July 16
Time to head to our first port Aigina. First we stopped at Russian Bay for our first swim, water was 24 degrees. Wind was on our nose so motored to get to Aigina in time to get a good spot. Good strategy because the place filled up. Went for a swim at the beach where we saw a lady with a pet duck on her arm. Too bad I didn't have the camera. Huge sailboat came in that you can rent for $52,000 a week.
Had a nice dinner in town. Had some rain and lightning at night.

Monday July 15
Time for the Canadians (Cathy and Al) to cruise in Greece on Blue Moon. Got into the airport at Athens and caught the x96 bus with only minutes to spare. Got to Piraeus port and caught the ferry with only minutes to spare. We had a reception committee waiting for us in Poros. The Captain was there holding a Canadian flag. Got to the boat in a nice part of town. Settled in then went shopping for sun hats. So far we haven't fallen off the boarding ladder.
Had a great dinner at a taverna near the boat. The Greek salads were as good as we remember from the last time we were in Greece. Looking forward to lots of adventures ahead.
